4th of July Thoughts

Hope your 4th of July was wonderful. Personally, I was dealing with jet lag after flying back from a trip to Europe. The flight back was unusual, because there were so many people on board excited to get back to the States in time to barbecue and watch fireworks. They were all going home to celebrate the signing of the US Declaration of Independence!

Seeing their excitement made me reflect on the day ahead. The signing of the US Declaration of Independence was obviously a major event. It was the result of countless conversations that led to an agreed list of grievances that a number of men agreed to sign off on. They surely had disagreements on what the list should contain and they undoubtedly had deeply passionate conversations about the intent and wording of the document.

Ultimately, they all agreed about the importance of separating from England’s King George III.

The importance of conversations among people who disagree on specifics but agree on the goal is what makes a democracy. If we don’t have discussions about what matters to us as individuals and as a community, we will ultimately fail in our efforts to continually create a society where we all can live in the harmony.

We each have a voice and a role in that creation. The importance of using that voice and the responsibility to co-create together is also what the story of THE LAST WITCH is all about.

Thank you for being a part of our conversation!
