A Moment of Gratitude!

Can you believe that it’s already the end of summer? It’s back to school time and a reminder that 332 years ago, the worst of times were about to happen during the Salem Witch Trials.

THE LAST WITCH has been in edit all summer. Our story about the exoneration (2022) of the last convicted person from the Salem Witch Trials (1692) thanks to the work and dedication of a teacher and her civics students has deepened as we explore current day impacts on voice, bullying and democracy.

Watching the news, taking in social media, and seeing what other kinds of programming are offering us it quickly becomes clear that the lessons of the Trials are more relevant today than ever.

Support for THE LAST WITCH keeps growing. To date, we have raised over $700,000, mostly via our fiscal sponsor, Creative Visions, that has carried us through most of production, partial postproduction, and building the momentum that is required to generate a huge impact once the film is released.

We have increased our social media imprint with an overall reach of 700,000 accounts from August 2023 to August 2024. We have over 11,000 followers on Facebook, where we have focused our fundraising outreach, and close to 950 on Instagram (let’s make that 1,000 this month!).

With community support (and special thanks to parents Mindy Crumbaker and Kim Perna-Caple for taking the lead this summer) we have distributed postcards around Essex County and beyond. That has led to potential sponsorship opportunities offsetting some of our costs and additional possibilities for partnerships in Massachusetts and beyond.

Now we are gearing up to film our penultimate round of scenes at the end of August. We are not done fundraising or growing our community, but I am filled with gratitude for all of the support that we are getting and without which we would not be able to create this very special documentary – THE LAST WITCH - our documentary 330 years in the making.
