Filming at the Peabody Essex Museum
I’m so excited to be filming incredible scenes at the Peabody Essex Museum this week. We’ve been keeping it a secret, exactly what it is that we are filming, but the Museum has a special exhibit that we hope a lot of you will get a chance to experience.
The story of the displays follow the journey of the Salem Witch Trials up through and including Elizabeth Johnson Jr’s exoneration in 2022. We get to experience personal stories in the voices of the people who lived them, see some of the objects and artifacts that were theirs and part of their world, and we get to imagine ourselves there with them.
They didn’t know what they would get to see when we filmed, but for the students, their teacher, and the historian who discovered Elizabeth’s case to begin with, it was a moment to reflect on what their efforts meant in the context of the Salem Witch Trials and in the context of the world that we live in today. We get a sense of how the project to exonerate Elizabeth has impacted them and what comes next.
Exactly what that is and what we film as a result has to be a secret until THE LAST WITCH is finished and released to the world. What I can tell you is that this film would not have come as far as it has and will not be finished without the support of you and everyone in our community.
The Peabody Essex Museum is a part of our community, and if you look at our social media this week you will see that they are promoting us to their community as a way to amplify what we are doing. As a result of that we were interviewed by several news outlets, including WBZ News Radio.
We are hopeful that this will lead to more followers on social media, eyes on our project, and ultimately help us get THE LAST WITCH funded so we can share our documentary with you and everyone in the world.
